It's finally snowing here in Portland. I love it.

Got Batman Arkham Asylum and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune for Christmas and I've been playing both of them pretty much nonstop. They're like crack. Awesome, gorgeous, slightly terrifying crack.

This is a quick recap of stuff.

-The wedding was lovely, and we even saw the Christmas Ships go past us a couple of times. And I actually danced of my own free will. Twice, even. (I'm still not a good dancer.)

-Seeing as Mom's out of commission, I've been saddled with gift wrapping duty. So even if I hadn't known what I was getting earlier, I do now. I guess it'll be a surprise for everybody else.

-I hate how the closer Christmas comes, the more it seems like the end of the world. I'm suddenly in this big hurry to get everything I've ever needed to do done by Friday for no apparent reason.

-Speaking of Christmas, I'll be around because I really have nothing better to do with my free time than to just wander around the internet all day. (Yes, there'll be presents in the morning, and dinner at my aunt's house in the evening, but between? Business as usual, except nothing is open.)

-Saw Avatar the other day. I thought it was very pretty, and would have looked even better if I'd seen it in 3D (which I didn't), but overall, I was underwhelmed. Granted, I only went because Meryl wanted somebody to see it with, and I didn't really want to see it in the first place, but I tried to be optimistic, and just wound up being bored. Nothing about the movie really grabbed my attention or even interested me in the slightest. It wasn't even a bad movie, it was just bland.

For those who are wondering, Meryl loved it. On the other hand, my sister, who also saw it with us, hated it.

-Also, in comics news, DC's scrapping the Blue Beetle back up (Noooo!) and putting the Kid Flash comic "on hold". (Which of course is TPTB lingo for "yeah, this is cancelled. Sorry.") Excuse me if I think Bart Allen is more awesome than Barry Allen and could care less about getting the whole Silver Age feeling back. I'm still mad about Roy Harper and you just had to go and make it worse, didn't you, DC?

No snow today, but it's not entirely out of the forecast. I've got my fingers crossed for tonight.

It did however, rain and now the damp sidewalks are freezing, which makes dog walking difficult.

In other news, Mom's decided it's time to decorate the house. We don't even have a tree yet, so my sister and I are dragging our feet on this.

Also, soy milk, chai, and bourbon is really good. Like I ran out of soy milk good. I'm not sure if it's the alcohol, the sugar, or a combination of both, but I am really loopy right now.

Wanted to go to the school play today, but I wasn't feeling well so I stayed home. But Dad had to make it seem like it was my fault that I didn't go because I didn't want to support the kids at work or something. I'm not some sort of heartless bitch, Dad, I feel like crap and I didn't want to go to the play feeling like crap or even exposing my crappy feeling to other people. How is that hard to understand?

Speaking of work, I have the next few weeks off because of Christmas break. Woo.

In other news, I have a dentist appointment tomorrow morning so I should be getting to bed. Hopefully I'll feel better by then. That's also probably the most exciting thing that's happening right now. Kind of sad, really.

Went to a party my aunt was throwing tonight. It wasn't bad for a party full of people I don't know, and I actually did do a small amount of socializing before my brother and I went upstairs and <s>hid</s> played with our phones for most of the evening.

mercury973, thanks for the card! It came yesterday.

Speaking of which, I'm sending out my cards on Monday, and I have addresses for mercury973, x_erikah_x, legethien, bodldops, and strivaria. Apparently there's a priest coming by tomorrow and I need to clean before he shows up. (He's coming by to bless Mom or give her communion or something. I don't know, it was my grandma's idea.)

It was fun writing every day but I started running out of ideas towards the end there.

Had to get up at 7 AM to go with Mom and Dad to Mom's doctor appointment. I got maybe four hours of sleep and spent most of the morning bored because I suddenly had all this free time. I normally get up closer to 10, so getting up that early is unheard of for me.

The regular session at work finished up last week but we still have a few weeks before winter break so we've been helping out with the winter celebration the school's putting on and cleaning out the supply closet. We go back to the usual routine after the kids come back in January.

I fell off my bike on my way to work today. I was taking my foot off the pedal and didn't realize that my shoelace had gotten caught in the pedal until it was too late. Aside from a few bruises, and a good chance I'll be sore tomorrow, I'm fine and my bike's fine. My shoelace kind of ripped though and I'm going to have to figure out a way to make sure this doesn't happen again. I've had shoelaces get caught in the pedals before, (and even my jeans snagging on the water bottle holder) but I haven't fallen over because of it before this.

Mom's gotten into this habit of calling my phone when she needs something, which is a little weird, especially if I'm in the next room.

And last but not least, in case you missed it and you'd like a generic holiday card, or maybe just a card with a polar bear on it, you can post your address over here.

So the doctor wants Mom at the hospital at 7:15 tomorrow morning. Which means I'll need to get up at five so I can get dressed and have everything ready to go so we can get there on time. I don't want to wake up at five. </whine>

So Supernatural happened. Short version, I liked it.

I cried when Ellen and Jo died. I'll admit it. Despite fandom's hatred for Jo, I liked her, and I loved Ellen. And on that note, there are no more fierce women on the show. My sister said they need to bring in some girl angels or something to fix that, which I'd be okay with as long as they're not used as love interests.

A demon named Crowley who doesn't want the apocalypse to happen. Get him a pair of sunglasses, a Bentley and an angel buddy named Aziraphale and it's Good Omens all over again. Also, Mark Sheppard was awesome and needs to come back.

I've said it before but Lucifer is fan-freaking-tastic. (Which taken out of context sounds really weird.) I know he's supposed to be the bad guy and all, but I really like him.

On that note, the scenes between him and Castiel in the basement were great. Even if I was drooling over the gorgeous lighting for about half of them.

And Sammy? Stay away from Detroit for about forever. Just in case.

Now I have to pound out the rest of my word count for today, and go to bed because I have to be up in six hours.

No work this Wednesday because of Veteran's Day. Seems kind of weird to put a holiday right in the middle of the week, but whatever. One more reason to love Wednesday, I guess. I'm not working Thanksgiving week either due to parent teacher conferences.

The kids get a snack of sorts (it's really more of a meal) right before we start classes and today it was giant chicken patties, like a person would get in a sandwich, only without the bun. Easily one of the strangest things I've ever served them. I guess Veteran's Day is throwing everybody off.

In other news, nothing's really happening. Which is sad. But Kim and I are going to be doing something tomorrow because her birthday was today, and there's new comics on Wednesday, including Booster Gold's Blackest Night issue which I know is going to make me flail-y and very sad. Plus, there's new Glee, which looks epic. And hey, I get a day off.

Went to the doctor today because Dad was suddenly all worried about the fact that I was sick, so I missed work again, and Mom was worried I was getting bronchitis again. Turns out-

It's not swine flu!

It's not bronchitis!

It's just a mild flu and a nasty cough. Since the flu part's over, I can go back to work tomorrow.

In other news, I'm quickly getting addicted to Glee, and it's entirely my sister's fault.

So far, I've been doing at least 200 words a day for mini_nanowrimo. Granted, they've both been written under the wire, and it's only the second day, but it's still much better than my goal of 100 words a day, so I'm calling it a success.

Didn't go to work today because I'm trying to feel as close to 100% as possible before heading back to deal with all the kids. Fortunately, I'm feeling much better, so whatever it was seems to be mostly gone. Except for my cough, but tends to stick around every time I get sick, and even that's not too bad.

Also, yesterday was squonk79's birthday and today is fondued_jicama's birthday so happy birthday to both of you!
Woke up today feeling much worse than yesterday, but managed to go help finish setting up, except when I got home I felt like total crap, and now I have a fever. So no Halloween for me this year.

And in other news, I burned myself while carving my pumpkin, so I have a big blister on my arm.

Dear World,

The sore throat and headache I have better not mean I'm getting sick. I can't get sick, tomorrow's Halloween. The only time I've missed Halloween was because I was at Outdoor School one year and wasn't even in town. Let me be miserable in bed on Sunday. Hell, I'll stay all week in bed but just let me spend tomorrow night scaring the pants off of people without feeling like absolute crap. And I definitely can't miss the chocolate mayonnaise because it's freaking amazing and I only get it once or twice a year. (Yes, I said chocolate mayonnaise. It's much better than it sounds, believe me.)

Just do that for me, kay?

Sincerely,
Me.

In happier news, it's vecturist's birthday!
So remember that costume I was putting together with the intention of wearing it to work? I checked with my boss the other day to see if we were still doing a Halloween thing, and we're not. He got an email from the principal saying no kids in costumes (I'm assuming it extends to the adults as well) and that if we wanted to celebrate something it had to be harvest themed. I remember being in grade school and all the kids would have a parade in and out of the classrooms in their costumes. Some of the teachers would get into it and get dressed up too.

I guess there's always next year. Or any other situation that calls for a girl Robin cosplay. I did wear the boots to work today though. It helps that my costume really just stuff I bought at various stores so I can wear pieces of it with other things. I'll wear my hair down tomorrow just to mess with the kid's heads a bit. They've been bugging me to do it lately, so it was about time I did anyway.

Didn't go to the comic book store because I was across town all morning but I'm going tomorrow. I also have a dentist appointment before that, but for once it's a regular old cleaning and nothing horrible. Except the cookie dough and wine I'm having right now is probably a bad idea.

I got a new phone! Well technically, it's Dad's hand me down phone, but when I plug it in to sync with my computer- nothing. I try my old phone, a different cable, and my iPod and none of them are connecting to the computer. They're not even charged. The weird part is, that my keyboard and mouse plug into USB ports just like the cable for the phone does, and they're working just fine. My software is all up to date, and the stupid thing worked a few days ago so I have no idea why it's stopped working now. I'm not very fond of the idea of having a phone without any of my things in it, especially when I have no idea when this is getting fixed.

Why can't things work like they're supposed to?

-New comics! Most of the things I read came in, which is good for reading, but bad for my wallet. Why can't I have a cheap hobby, like bottle cap collecting? (Though on that note, Adventure Comics totally made my day. Tim needs to stop being so emo and hang out with Kon more now that he's back. Come to think of it, so do Cassie and Bart because Kon seems to make anybody who hangs around him suddenly less angsty and more in character. There needs to be more of that.)

-I woke up early and even left on time to get to the comic book store, even pick up lunch on the way back because hey, I had time and it takes me over an hour to get home because the bus was delayed. Sigh.

-Finally got around to talking to my doctor about the whole shoulder thing. She said the injury could have been worse than I thought and I might have damaged cartilage because it's still bothering me (it actually popped again a few days ago) and I should get ahold of somebody to see if they can reopen my claim. That told me exactly nothing, but since it's related to the work related injury, she technically can't do anything about it. I love bureaucracy.

-It's fall in Oregon, which means rain. I like rain. What I don't like is being wet and cold and tired because I just had to ride home in it and I don't have any waterproof jackets. Or gloves.

There were a couple of unintentionally funny moments, a few big giant hams, and a lot of bad acting. (Need I mention the writing?) And the RDA, Shanks, and Tapping appearances were pretty much a joke. The longest any of them showed up was maybe five minutes.

Now I'm going to have a beer and a couple of ibuprofen and hope that it makes my headache go away.

I've been slacking on the Supernatural reactions, I know. I liked tonight's episode. Does that count as a reaction?

Have gotten tons of random plot bunnies over the past few days for no apparent reason. Various fandoms though, which is a good thing, but little to no SGA bunnies, which is depressing. November's coming up, and with it mini_nanowrimo. (I don't have the attention span or the inspiration to work on something that's 50,000 words. I have a hard enough time writing 100 words a day of whatever I want.) Hopefully I can either get more bunnies or hold onto the ones I have until November rolls around.

Today at work, we made unflavored gelatin stand up. (Fun with static electricity.) The kids thought it was awesome. (Probably because I gave them balloons.) I'd never done that before, so I'm glad that it was such a hit. There's really only so many times you can make slime before it gets old.

I come home from work yesterday and my computer's missing from its usual spot on the dining room table. The monitor's still there, but it's not hooked up to anything. This leads me to ask my mom where it is.

"Your dad took it for a show." She said. "He said it will be back tonight."

It's not back yet, by the way.

But what really bugs me is that he just showed up and took it without letting me know what was going on. And if I confront him on this, he's just going to say "I paid for it, it's my computer, I can do what I want with it." I'm sorry, but you were letting me use it as my computer, which means you should at least be a little courteous and give me a heads up before you take back something I'm using. The kids at work don't get away with this kind of behavior.

And he wonders why I want my very own computer that I paid for.

Woke up at around eight, which is when my appointment was, so I was late to that. Thankfully, I'm walking distance to the dentist's office, so I wasn't too late. The dental assistant thought that the pain might be wisdom teeth and I still don't have any bottom wisdom teeth. Have two of my top ones though, but they're pretty much in and aren't causing any problems.

Turns out that the problem is that the remaining root split somehow and the whole tooth has to be removed next week. It's not my fault it happened, and they can put a bridge in later, but that doesn't make me feel any better.

Though oddly enough, the extraction is $300 less than the root canal.

But in happier news, I found $5.
Years and years ago, back when I was like, 12, I got my first root canal. (It totally wasn't my fault, and by the time I had noticed something was wrong, it was too late to do anything else about the tooth.) And that part of my mouth has been pretty much uneventful ever since.

Until three days ago when I was eating something and it started hurting a lot for no apparent reason and has sort of kept hurting these past few days. Don't worry, I'm going to the dentist (again!) tomorrow, but ugh. I'm tired of this shit.

On the other hand, work was good despite the fact I had to ride home in the rain without a jacket. I hung out with some boys who were waiting for their dad to get them and we talked about comic book characters and I helped the older one with his homework while his younger brother looked through this copy of Showcase Presents: The Flash that I had to return to the library.

Most of this post is about Supernatural. Sorry.

I have no idea how many people saw this on Twitter, but the #luciferiscoming thing? Doesn't mean that anything bad is happening. It just means it's Thursday.

Before I get into the actual reaction part, something happened right before the show. It's pretty much 8:59 at my house, so I turn to the CW, only it's not working. I flip through and I'm getting the channel before, and the channel after, but no CW. For whatever reason, somebody went through and programmed the channel out. It's 9 pm and I had to go and try to remember how to program it back in, which I eventually did. But I almost started freaking out. (Sounds silly, I know, but it's my favorite show, and I've been looking forward for this all week. Cut me some slack.)

Holy crap, that was a crazy episode.

Am I the only person who thinks that maybe it's not exactly God doing the whole Castiel reanimation/saving the boys thing? I mean, for all we know, Lucifer or one of the other super high up angels have that power. Why Lucifer would willingly save Dean (who's supposed to kill him-sorta) is beyond me, but hey, it's possible. Especially if he wants them to be sympathetic to his cause.

My sister and I had a discussion about spoilers (she'd read some, and I didn't want to hear them) and I (jokingly) mentioned Bobby's hat being off as a spoiler. Then we're watching the episode, and his hat is off.

There were some really great lines in this. And the fangirl was hilarious. I was watching this with my mom and sister and we were all laughing at various points.

Meg's back! I love that Dean didn't figure it out right away, but Sam did. I love Dean, but Sam will always be the smart one.

Though speaking of Dean, he's supposed to be Michael's vessel? Didn't see that coming, but not a surprising twist. But I have a feeling that somehow this will be brought up again and again through the season. (But why is it that he's the only guy for the job, when he wasn't "special" enough last season to be able to see and hear the angel's true voices and forms?)

Castiel, I love you. You're so badass with your trench coat and your stubble and your Batman voice.

Bobby's still awesome. But I thought the knife kills the possessee as well as the possesser? Or is that just when they get stabbed in the heart? Though the leg wound wouldn't take care of the demon. It'd still be in there. They've done cuts with the knife before in areas and the demon didn't die. How is this different? And how'd he get so much blood on his shirt when he got stabbed in the leg? (Though Bobby possibly not walking again is bad. And would sort of make sense, considering that it's the demon killing knife and all.)

The scenes with Lucifer's vessel (I forgot the poor guy's name) were creepy. Especially the crib. Holy shit.

In other news, Thursday was also comic book day due to Labor Day, so I had a bit of a fandom extravaganza.

And I'm working this evening for registration. We officially start next week. (I'm working again! Yay! I was getting tired of hanging around the house like I don't do anything.)
